Niger's HAPDP (High Authority for the Protection of Personal Data) and the CNDP (National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection) signed a "Koun3labal" Partnership Agreement on Thursday July 13, 2023.
Signed by Ms. Tchimaden Hadatan Sanady, President of the HAPDP, and Mr. Omar Seghrouchni, President of the CNDP, the agreement formalizes the HAPDP's membership of the Contributors' Committee of the "Koun3labal Platform", dedicated to protecting privacy in Africa and raising awareness among children, teenagers and women.
This partnership aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Raise awareness among children, teenagers, women, parents/guardians and teachers about digital privacy: dangers and risks, rights, means of protection, means of recourse;
- Provide guides, best practices and educational resources, through various types of media and artistic creations: drawings, awareness-raising audio capsules, educational videos, educational games, etc.;
- Involve children and teenagers in content creation by organizing artistic workshops and competitions, and by setting up Children's Digital Privacy Ambassador spaces;
- Encourage research and development in the field of personal data protection and digital privacy for children, teenagers and women, targeting teachers, researchers, etc.
- Provide civil society and all stakeholders with tools to better target and raise awareness among young people and women in their activities.
About the HAPDP
The protection of privacy in Niger is enshrined in Articles 27 and 29 of the Constitution.
The HAPDP (High Authority for the Protection of Personal Data) was created by Law No. 2017-28 of May 03, 2017 on the protection of personal data. It ensures that the use of Information and Communication Technologies does not infringe on public freedoms or pose a threat to citizens' privacy.
About the CNDP
The protection of privacy in Morocco is enshrined in article 24 of the Kingdom's Constitution: "Everyone has the right to the protection of his or her private life...".
The CNDP (National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection) was created by Dahir n° 1-09-15 of 22 Safar 1430 (February 18, 2009) promulgating law n° 09-08 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data (BO n° 5714 of 05/03/2009).
