The National Award for Privacy and Personal Data Protection

The CNDP and GIZ host the award ceremony for the first edition of the "Koun3labal" National Prize for the Privacy and Personal Data Protection.

Casablanca – Friday, January 18th, 2017 - As part of their cooperation to promote the privacy and personal data protection, the CNDP (Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère personnel) and the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), are organizing the award ceremony for the first edition of the National Privacy and Personal Data Protection Award "Koun3labal" on the sidelines of the Data Protection Day. This event will be held on Friday, January 27th, 2017 at 3:00 pm, at the Grand Mogador Hotel in Casablanca.

With the rapid growth of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the issue of privacy is becoming increasingly important. With this in mind, in July 2016, the CNDP and GIZ launched jointly the first National Privacy and Personal Data Protection Award named: "Koun3labal". This award aims to encourage the initiative and creativity of young Moroccans and to reward the author of the most influential video in terms of privacy and personal data protection awareness.

Two prizes will be awarded at the ceremony, each worth 30,000.00 (thirty thousand) dirhams:

  • The Jury Prize for the best personal data protection awareness video;
  • The Audience Prize for the video with the highest number of "likes".

The Koun3labal Award is the first of its kind in the MENA region, and the first edition was a great success among young Youtubers. More than thirty videos were received, with a total of over 150,000 views, of which twenty-one were selected and posted on the website: www.privacyawards.koun3labal.cndp.ma

The CNDP intends to organize further events to raise awareness among Moroccan Internet users about the risks threatening their personal data, so that they can benefit from the advantages of the Internet without exposing too much of their private lives and those of their loved ones.
