Digital Privacy Protection for Children and Teenagers in Morocco – “Award Ceremony”

With the support of the German cooperation agency GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH), the CNDP (Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère Personnel) has launched a competition for young graphic designers, aged between 18 and 24, to design the logo for a platform, soon to go online, dedicated to protecting the digital privacy of children and teenagers in Morocco.

The purpose of this platform is to make our country's children and teenagers aware of the dangers of using new technologies carelessly, and to prevent them from misusing the Internet and becoming addicted to it.

Our young people need to be able to navigate safely in the digital world, and be aware of bad practices to be avoided and good practices to be adopted.

This platform introduces our young people to best practices and existing remediesin Morocco, in the event of abuse. It also includes a wide range of references and educational resources on the subject of digital privacy, presented in a variety of media and artistic creations (drawings, educational videos, educational games, etc.). Many of these have been designed and produced by young people.

In preparation for the launch of this platform, and during the first phase of this project, 200 young people aged 6 to 24 took part in technical and awareness-raising workshops in Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakech in November 2018, under the supervision of experts in digital privacy and artistic creativity.

This Wednesday, December 26th, 2018, Mr. Omar SEGHROUCHNI, President of the CNDP, together with GIZ and the members of the competition jury, presented the winner of the competition, Mr. Alaa HASSOUN, with an award of 10,000.00 (ten thousand) dirhams.
